This site provides links to several online idiom exercises on a wide variety of topics.
Use this interactive web site to create flashcards to share with your learner. After reaching the web site, click on “AnkiWeb” and create an account. Then start building your deck of flashcards or look at the many already created decks.
Tutors can create (and save, if you complete the free registration) custom spelling lists. Learners can choose to be tested on their spelling or to play a variety of online games created from their custom lists (including crossword puzzles, word searches, jumbles, fill-in-the-blanks, scrambled sentences, hangman, etc.)
Merriam-Webster’s Online Dictionary
This online dictionary includes idioms and explains definitions in a way geared toward ESOL learners, with several usage examples. This site also includes features such as the “3000 Words You Need to Know” and “Perfect Pronunciation Exercises.”
Google’s translator allows you to type in a text, choose its language and the target language, and have the text translated. (This can be useful for communicating with a low-level learner.)
