I was introduced to Literacy for Life at Reading Between the Wines in 2014. The stories told by learners about what they had accomplished were truly inspiring. With the help of tutors, they obtained degrees, gained citizenship, and received promotions in the workplace. Since becoming involved in the organization as a board member and volunteer, I have learned about the full range of services, from language skills to job skills and health management, and I have become an avid ambassador. Literacy for Life provides an effective and amazing catalyst for change. Dedicated staff and volunteer tutors plus motivated adult learners create better lives for entire families in our wonderful community!
I believe in Literacy for Life – I have been a tutor for several years, I am a member of their Board of Directors, and I support them financially.
For me, it’s all about the children. That might sound like an odd reason to support an adult literacy program, but the fact is the single greatest indicator of children’s success is the literacy level of their parents.
The learners I work with are anxious to learn and dedicate themselves to do whatever it takes to be successful. Many are working two jobs and still find a way to meet, and to put in the time that is takes to improve their skills. I am proud to support Literacy for Life and the people that we serve.
Donors Enable Our Program’s Success
We are grateful for the support of all our generous community partners—caring individuals, businesses and foundations who recognize the critical importance of helping adults improve their literacy. Our donors are high-ranking businesspeople who see the value in helping their employees develop their skills; educators who believe that everyone deserves a chance to succeed; and parents who want their adult neighbors to have the same opportunities afforded to their own children. Consider joining them with a gift to Literacy for Life.
